Smart exit from Piper to MPW for Justin Craig

Piper has sold Justin Craig Education, the UK’s leading exam revision business, to MPW, one of the country’s best known and well respected independent college brands. The sale was completed for an undisclosed sum.

Piper bought Justin Craig in 2008. Since then, it has doubled sales and become a leading brand in the group tuition market. In transforming the business, Piper has helped build a talented new management team, establish a bespoke bookings system and develop an efficient marketing programme to attract new customers, as well as improving the range and quality of Justin Craig’s revision courses. Now firmly established as one of the UK’s leading providers of exam focused revision courses, Justin Craig has helped more than 100,000 students achieve better exam results.

Chris Curry, managing partner at Piper, said: ‘We are proud of the way we have helped Justin Craig grow and develop as a business. The fact that nearly 60 per cent of students come to Justin Craig either through recommendation or as repeat customers is evidence that the quality of its tutors and courses is outstanding.’ Simon Williamson, chairman of Justin Craig, commented: ‘Throughout its investment in Justin Craig, Piper has been a strong and supportive partner, contributing throughout to the success of the business. We are delighted to be working with MPW, whose reputation and position in the education market is second to none.’

Andrew Barnsley and Otis Johnson of Nexus Corporate Finance advised Piper and management on the transaction.
